MONSTROUS MOVIE MUSIC
This is the first volume in the acclaimed CD series featuring world-premiere re-recordings of music from classic science-fiction, fantasy, and horror films! “Monstrous Movie Music” (MMM-1950) contains a 27-minute suite from one of the greatest monster movies of all-time: Warner Brothers Them! Bronislau Kaper's 1954 score is one of the Academy Award-winning composer's greatest works, full of mystery, suspense, and thrills. Also included is Kaper's brilliant “Ant Fugue,” which was completely dropped from the released version of the film. It’ll have you crawling with excitement! The CD also contains a 20-minute suite from It Came From Outer Space, Universal's landmark 1953 production, composed by Herman Stein, Irving Gertz, and the legendary Henry Mancini. Adding to the out-of-the-world ‘50s excitement is that unique electronic instrument, the Theremin, whose “ooo-wooo-ooo” characterizes the extraterrestrials. “Monstrous Movie Music” also includes a 9-minute suite from Ray Harryhausen's 1955 giant octopus flick, It Came From Beneath The Sea, which features a singular score from Columbia’s Mischa Bakaleinkoff. This music was subsequently re-used in Earth vs. The Flying Saucers, 20 Million Miles To Earth, The Giant Claw and the Three Stooges' Have Rocket, Will Travel, and it’ll surely bring out the Moe, Larry, and Joe DeRita in you! As if that’s not enough, there are three cues from Universal's 1956 silly-but-beloved The Mole People, with music by Herman Stein and Heinz Roemheld. Also included are bonus tracks, music cut from the films, and an extensive 32-page liner book, complete with never-before-released photos, music scores, and information. “Monstrous Movie Music” has been vividly recorded through close-miking techniques to recapture the dynamic full-orchestral sound heard at the original Hollywood scoring sessions.
