Win a free MMM CD with a booklet
autographed by composer Irving Gertz!

The winner of this contest will receive our acclaimed Creature From The Black Lagoon (and other jungle pictures) CD, with a liner book autographed by composer Irving Gertz, whose fabulous score for The Alligator People is also on the disc.  This signed item has not been available before.

The winner will be chosen from among the correct e-mailed submissions that arrive by 3/25/06, and the winner’s name and correct answer will be posted on this page. We’ll contact the winner by e-mail, but the only losers we’ll contact will be those with the silliest answers, as they will be told to please think a little harder before entering future contests! Only one submission per person.

CONTEST QUESTION:

Universal-International had a tremendously-talented team of composers in the 1940s and 1950s, both under contract and ones used fairly steadily on a free-lance basis.  Universal was also the American studio most associated with science fiction, fantasy, and horror films, and almost all of Universal’s composers contributed music to some of these genre pictures.

The contest question is to provide the name of four sci-fi, fantasy, or horror films (not TV shows) that four of the composers worked on outside of  Universal Studios -- one film per composer.  Please note that not all of the composers wrote music for these genres outside of Universal.

Choose four composers from the list below and provide one such film for each composer.   You will not increase your chances of winning if you provide titles for more than four composers, although that will make our respect for you rise dramatically!

Irving Gertz
William Lava
Henry Mancini
Heinz Roemheld
Milt Rosen
Hans J. Salter
Walter Scharf
Frank Skinner
Herman Stein

(Nobody even remotely associated with our label is eligible for this fabulous prize! That includes people who’ve reviewed our CDs and others who have any professional relationship with us whatsoever.)
