Kathleen Mayne graduated magna cum laude from the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific.
She studied conducting and composition with Academy Award-winning film composer, Ernest Gold, (Exodus, It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World).
Her flute choir works, “Seascape” and “Suite No. 2,” were winners of the James
Madison University National Flute Choir Composition Competitions. “Roundabout Rag” was premiered at the National Flute Convention, and has also been performed at the
White House. Ms. Mayne’s music is frequently played throughout the United States and abroad, both in concert and educational settings.
In addition to composing for the concert hall, Kathleen helped found the acclaimed Monstrous Movie Music CD label, which is dedicated to re-recording film scores of the past. She has restored and
re-orchestrated archival musical sketches so the music can be performed by symphony orchestras and recorded with modern digital fidelity. To find out more about this, please visit this link.
She has also worked on projects for many other soundtrack companies, the estates of film and concert composers (including Miklós Rózsa,
Alfred Newman, Jerome Moross, Harry Warren, and William Grant Still), and has provided underscore for documentaries about classic monster movies for Universal Studios’ DVD series.
